Delivery Update

The plans for delivery have not turned out exactly as we thought they would. The idea we had discussed with my doctor over the last 3 visits were that she would be willing to schedule a planned c-section for one week prior to my due date which would give us a baby born on December 12th. Last week she said that if I had dialated enough by Thursday that we could try an induction.

I saw the doctor on Thursday afternoon and I had not progressed enough for her to be able to schedule an induction. On top of that, Tyler was up to 7 lbs 12 ozs. and I was almost 39 weeks. At that point we could either choose to schedule a c-section or wait it out. I have had a feeling over the last couple weeks that I would end up with a c-section and have decided that I am at peace with that. I called the doctor back so her office could call the hospital to schedule the surgery for the 12th.

I would just wait but I've had lots of contractions and have been really uncomfortable. The contractions are not steady but they have gotten stronger over the last 2 weeks. Since I had a c-section with Deven and my body never really progressed through labor I believe that I will need a c-section even if I wait.

There was not an available time for Friday but the hospital set me up for early Saturday morning at 6:30 am. At 5:30 this morning a nurse from the hospital called and said they had a lot of walk-in's over the night and did not have any rooms available but they expected to discharge some patients so I may still be able to come in by this afternoon. I got back in bed and tried to get back to sleep. By about 7 they called back to let me know my doctor wanted to reschedule for Sunday since she didn't want me to go all day without eating.

We're crossing our fingers and toes that no more ladies "walk-in" tonight. We are all so ready to meet Tyler and to love and snuggle her.

It's that darn full moon. Last night it was supposed to be the closest to Earth than it's been all year... I'm sure it put all those ladies in labor (LOL). I'm not sure why you were skipped, but I'd guess that Tyler just wasn't quite ready to come. I TOTALLY feel your pain, so I'm praying that things work out tomorrow. I can't wait to see pictures and someday meet her!
